"Dedicated to cultivating a love and appreciation for the arts in future generations"

The Art Muses

Muses are the goddesses of Greek mythology who preside over the arts and sciences. Known as the nine daughters of Zeus, muses are considered to provide guidance and inspiration to artists. The Art Muses program contains the biographies of well-known artists and focuses the aesthetic value of their artwork, serving as a “muse” to inspire elementary and middle school students. In alignment with the California Visual Art Standards, this program may be used as a catalyst to enhance other content areas, such as history, math and social studies.

Each unit consists of age appropriate and easy-to-follow lesson plans, a related key vocabulary list and glossary, complete unit materials list and an up-to-date resource guide. The title of each lesson plan incorporates a direct quote from the individual artist and is designed to have an energetic appeal to both students and their instructors alike. Through The Art Muses art enrichment program, children learn to observe, create, and make meaningful connections with the arts.

The Art Muses curriculum is an invaluable resource for instructors with or without formal art training, who want to enhance and expand art education in their classrooms or home school setting. Novice instructors are not intimidated by the easy-to-follow manner in which each inspiring Art Muse is presented. Featuring many previously unexplored modern and contemporary artists, even the most reluctant child will find inspiration, gratification, and boosted self-confidence, by participating in this well-researched art enrichment program. The Art Muses collection gives children an unequaled approach to art appreciation, with high-interest-activities and the opportunity to create a portfolio of artwork that will be treasured for a lifetime.
